As an executive and consultant
in the U.S. and abroad for technology,
financial, media companies and nonprofit organizations, Suzanne
Thompson has served large corporations such as Mobil
as well as
mid-sized and emerging media and telecommunications businesses.
Her experience includes business
planning, strategic communications, branding,marketing, advertising,
new media development, investor relations, public relations and
government and community affairs. Her industry focus spans cable,
telephony, high-speed Internet/new media and interactive television
plus financial services, energy and the environment.
At Bresnan Communications, as Vice
President-Public Affairs,
she developed an award-winning public affairs and marketing
communications program. She helped Bresnan launch one of
cable's first high-speed Internet services. Ms. Thompson led image
development and corporate communications in the U.S. and abroad
as Bresnan quintupled its size. When the company was acquired
for $3.1 billion by Paul Allen's Charter Communications, she joined Portin Parker Consulting where she served as a senior management consultant to the firm's media, technology and Internet companies. Her work focused on marketing, business development and communications.
At Mobil, Ms. Thompson advanced through a series of positions
including Assistant Manager of Investor Relations, Client Services
Coordinator for Mobil's Chemical, R&D and Land Development
companies and Manager of Employee Communications. She managed public
affairs for Mobil Europe in London, and served as Planning Executive
in Mobil Europe-London, helping to shape the company's business
strategies and budget, as well as forecasting business, political
and competitive trends.
Ms. Thompson founded and led environmental
conservation
organizations. Currently a member of the Board of Directors of Future Leaders Institute, a school in Harlem, and the Board of Managers
of the West Side YMCA, she has served on boards of industry
and other nonprofit organizations. A frequent speaker at cable industry
meetings, she has won multiple awards from industry associations.
She holds a BA in journalism/English from Southern Methodist University
and completed graduate coursework in business administration (marketing)
at Baruch College Graduate
School of Business of the City University of New York (CUNY).
